ONE OF BRANSON’S ALL TIME FAVORITE CELEBRITIES!
TONY ORLANDO ANNOUNCES RETURN OF CHRISTMAS SHOW
“SANTA AND ME”
NOVEMBER 9 THROUGH DECEMBER 5, 2004 – 8pm SHOW
One of Branson’s all time favorite Christmas shows, starring one of America ’s most Endearing performers, returns back by popular demand to the entertainment mecca of Branson, Missouri. Tony Orlando announces the opening of his Christmas Show, “SANTA & ME”, November 9 through December 5, 2004. This limited engagement will be presented on the grand stage of Mansion American Theatre, known for hosting extravagant live Broadway style musicals.
“SANTA & ME” was written, produced and directed by Tony himself, who bills the holiday celebration as a musical for all ages with a wide variety of Christmas favorites, comedy, magical sets, original music, and “Santa” himself, who delivers the true meaning of Christmas. Orlando weaves together humor with emotion, bringing audiences to standing ovations time and time again. “SANTA & ME” will certainly ring in the spirit of the holidays,” said Sean Murray, General manager of the Mansion America Theatre, already home to two musical extravaganzas, “Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat” and brand new show “Celebrate America ”! Every performance promises a night full of surprises and a wide variety of entertainment as people see Tony shine when he takes the stage to share the true meaning of Christmas,” Murray said.
The holiday show falls during Orlando ’s Annual Yellow Ribbon Salute to Veterans, and annual Branson performance, which has netted Orlando accolades for his genuine appreciation of the men and women who serve our country. Recently, the College of the Ozarks and the U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell were among the dignitaries awarding Orlando for his contributions of leadership, time, talents and personal resources to our American Veterans.
Orlando looks forward to the special holiday presentation and the enthusiastic response to his return to Branson. “Branson is a place you always remember, with shows you never forget,” said Orlando . “We hope this will be the beginning of many more Christmas seasons at the Mansion America Theatre.”

'Santa and Me' and
Tony back in Branson
Holiday show
brought back from Las Vegas because of audience demand.

Singer Tony Orlando has announced the Christmas show
he wrote, directed, produced and stars in will return to Branson this winter.
"Santa and Me" will run Nov. 9 through Dec. 5 at
the Mansion America Theater.
The phrase "back by popular
demand" may sound like another oft-used marketing ploy, Orlando says, but
in this case it's only the truth.
Orlando first came to
Branson in 1993 and made the city his home. Although he stopped performing there
full time in 1998, Orlando still calls Branson home and performs a veterans show
each November.
"The one thing I kept hearing from
the people who get on these buses that bring people to town was, 'When are you
going to bring back "Santa and Me?"'" Orlando says.
Orlando
took the show to Las Vegas for the past three years.
"It's
a sweet, warm show," he says. "I play myself. The show opens in my home
and I see these red pants coming down through the chimney."
Orlando
meets Santa — though he's unbelieving at first — and eventually receives a lesson
in the true meaning of the season. Santa's gift to Orlando is a Nativity scene.
"Christmas is a season to celebrate the birth of Christ
and very often when we see Santa he is ignorant of this fact," Orlando says.
"But not in this show."
The show features plenty
of classic Christmas songs woven into its story line. Gail Lennon will make a
special appearance in the show, and Orlando's longtime backing band, the Lefty
Brothers, will be its musical foundation.
Liz Stanley,
director of sales for Branson Hospitality, which organizes motor coach trips to
the city, says the show is heavily requested.
"I think
it's because of Tony," she says. "He's so personable with the crowd
and it's not just your ... typical singing, dancing Christmas show. There's actually
a story to line to it."
